John “Skip” Crooker, Christina Drum, Qingmin Shi, and Ashley Guyer (all Decision Support) recently delivered three iPoster presentations at the annual meeting of the American Education Research Association (AERA) in Denver, CO.
The presentations explored data-informed approaches to advancing academic performance and student success. Topics included:
- Leveraging Canvas Data to Optimize Student Engagement and Academic Performance, which examined patterns of student and faculty engagement in learning management systems and their predictive relationship with course outcomes.
- Analyzing the Impact of Co-requisite Models on Course Performance, which assessed the effectiveness of co-requisite math instruction over time using regression discontinuity and multivariate analysis to identify key predictors of student success.
- Unpacking Study Abroad: Examining Its Impact on Student Success Metrics, which investigated equity in study abroad participation and found that study abroad experiences were positively associated with higher retention and graduation rates, using k-Nearest Neighbor algorithms.
