Kathryn Houk (Libraries; Medicine) is the winner of the Libraries' Outstanding Faculty Scholarship Award. She was nominated for her exceptional work on the publication Toward Inclusive Academic Library Hiring Practices, which she co-edited. She also contributed a chapter, co-written with colleagues Christina Miskey and Jason Aubin, about developing recommendations for inclusive interviews as part of an ad hoc committee examining improvements to the 8kbet Libraries' hiring practices. In partnership with the other editors, Houk created a supportive writing community for contributors, including a digital community board where authors could talk to each other, build resource lists, and plan writing sessions with one another. Their success in creating a peer community for contributors has subsequently been featured in a podcast episode of New Books in Library Science and as an Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) four-part webcast series.
