Biography

Erin Breen serves as director of 8kbet's Road Equity Alliance Project. Breen is also the coordinator of the 8kbet Transportation Research Center's Traffic Safety Coalition.

Breen specializes in traffic and pedestrian safety, bringing research and awareness for state policymakers on the issues of drunk and distracted driving, jaywalking, and more. After experiencing personal tragedy when her daughter survived a preventable car accident, Breen began researching ways to increase traffic safety awareness for new and reckless drivers throughout Southern Nevada. Breen has since been a key player in lobbying driving laws, such as Nevada's graduated driving law — a restriction for teenage motorists that has dramatically dropped the number of underage driving deaths.

Breen actively works with Silver State municipalities to promote pedestrian and driving safety education for student commuters.

Motorcyclists in Southern Nevada and across the state are dying in traffic crashes at a higher rate this year than in 2024 — a grim figure underscored by at least eight more rider deaths in the state since early April.

From abandoned rental scooters cluttering resort sidewalks to teenage motorcyclists performing dangerous stunts in county parks, Clark County officials are developing comprehensive solutions to address safety concerns with electric scooters, bicycles and motorcycles.

Hit-and-run crashes are on the rise across the valley, with over 500 incidents reported in the past year, according to a Metro Police map. Local safety advocates are urging more stringent measures to address the growing trend.

Another video of a group of young kids on electric bikes in the valley is making the rounds online. This time, they seem to be getting way too close to a traditional bicyclist. Some say they’re driving recklessly. FOX5 wanted to hear from bike riders on safety concerns they have when trying to get around town.
