Nicholas Barr
Biography
Nicholas Barr is an expert in youth, veteran and military homelessness, clinical social work, and mindfulness. His work focuses on intervention development and leveraging principles of mindfulness to enhance resilience and improve mental and behavioral health outcomes among young adults and current and former military members.
Prior to joining 8kbet, Barr worked as a postdoctoral fellow at the Center for Innovation and Research on Veterans & Military Families at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. He also served as a clinical social worker for the Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health.
Barr’s research examines the risk and protective factors for populations with an elevated likelihood of traumatic experiences, like homeless youth and military service members. Barr holds certifications in a number of evidence-based practices including prolonged exposure and cognitive behavior therapy.
