The Nevada Conservatory Theatre at 8kbet presents "Nevada," Oct. 10-19 in the Judy Bayley Theatre. Donald Brenner directs.
Nevada -- in this memory play of the same name -- is a place of discovery and dreams, of almost having but then losing, of hope and discouragement. It is a place where the central remembering character, his best friend, and his girlfriend come to the end of their journeying road. Written by David Kranes.
Brenner directed the Lincoln Center production of "Ali Baba," an original adaptation utilizing Middle Eastern musicians, dance, and storytelling. Off-Broadway, he adapted and directed a new version of "Miracle on 34th Street" at the Lucille Lortel Theater starring Tony Award winners Debbie Gravitte and Chuck Cooper and "A Tale of Two Cities" at the Mint Theatre Company. At the York Theatre, he directed "Insomnia" with Eddie Korbich and "Island" by Tony Award nominee Peter Link. His more than 70 regional theater directing credits include Jeffrey Hatcher's "Wilde Goes West" for the Pioneer Theatre Olympic Play Commission Project in Salt Lake City and "The Gym" at the Berkshire Theatre Festival.
The cast includes Jesse Bourque as Gene; Sam Cordes as Logan; Jasmine Mathews as Shelly; Bernhard Verhoeven as Weeks; Madison Kisst as Annie Wells; Darek Riley as Howard; Jack Lafferty as Doc; Stefanie Resnick as Ora; and Richard Rice as the Oldest Man in Nevada.
The production and design team include scenic designer Ian Magnum, lighting designer Josh Lentner, costume designer Elizabeth LaRouche, technical director Brian Smallwood, and production stage manager Jade Cagalawan.
